If you come under the following cases, you do not need to apply for a study permit.

  • The course selected by you is of less than 6 months.
  • Your chosen course is not a part of a long-term program.
  • If you will be able to complete your studies within 6 months.
  • If you are a family or a staff member of a foreign representative, then you do not need a study permit.
  • If you have a registered citizen status in Canada, then you do not need a study permit.
  • If you are a minor in Canada.

In all other cases, you need to get a study permit with the help of the chosen institute and immigration authorities. Of course, most of the cases do not come under the above list.

Start the application process

Meet the tuition fees requirements

Once you get your offer letter, you need to pay the tuition fees as mentioned by your chosen institute. They will also inform you of the modes they prefer to accept fees. After receiving your tuition fees, the institute will send you the receipt. You can apply for a visa with your tuition fee receipt.

Buy GIC Certificate

You need to buy a GIC certificate to study in Canada. It is made mandatory by the Canadian Government. The Guaranteed Investment Certificate will cost CAD$10200. You will receive the money in instalments after your arrival in Canada. The first instalment will be of $2000, which will help you in paying accommodation and other charges.

Get medical consent

Now you need to get medical approval from the impanelled Canadian doctors. You can get the detail of impanelled doctors from the Canada immigration website.

Apply for Visa

To get a visa to study in Canada, you need many documents. You must prepare them in advance to avoid any delays or disapproval. These documents are

  • Your valid Passport
  • A proof showing funds to support your study and stay in Canada
  • 2 recent photographs - passport size
  • Your immigration medical examination report
  • Your academic records
  • Your IELTS or other English proficiency scorecard
  • Scholarship letter (if applicable)
